LEGAL HELP CENTER - Mobic

Mobic News:    • é -    • h -    •  -    • t -    • T -    • < -

Mobic is used to ease the signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis in adults. You should not take Mobic if you have suffered asthma attacks, hives, or allergic-type reactions after taking aspirin or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

Serious problems from stomach ulcers such as bleeding are recognized difficulties in individuals treated with NSAIDs. Comparable problems have happened in individuals treated with Mobic. The probability of stomach problems intensifies the longer you take medications like Mobic. Though, even short-term treatment is not without risk. These tribulations can occur without any warning, however in some individuals it could cause symptoms such as gnawing or burning stomach pain, black or tarry stools, or vomiting. If this occurs, discontinue Mobic and contact your physician immediately.

Verify with your physician. Mobic may not be right for you, if you:

  • Have had ulcers or stomach bleeding
  • Have had asthma, hives or allergic-type reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs
  • Have severe kidney problems
  • Have severe liver problems
  • Are pregnant

You should not stop taking any medications that you have been prescribed without first consulting your physician.

Critical problems such as liver damage have happened in individuals treated with NSAIDs. Various warning signs of liver damage can be nausea, vomiting, fatigue, loss of appetite, itching, yellow coloring of skin or eyes, "flu-like" symptoms and dark urine. If you suffer any of these symptoms, contact your physician immediately.

Mobic can trigger your body to retain fluid and swell. Your physician will determine if Mobic is right for you, if you:

  • Retain fluids
  • Have high blood pressure
  • Have heart failure

If you have asthma, you could have aspirin-sensitive asthma. If an aspirin-sensitive asthmatic consumes aspirin it can bring on severe narrowing of the airway (bronchospasm), and even death. Since this type of reaction also has occurred after taking NSAIDs. Mobic should not be given to aspirin-sensitive individuals.

The safety and effectiveness of Mobic in individuals below the age of 18 years has not been established.

Common Side Effects:

  • Indigestion
  • Upper respiratory tract infection
  • Diarrhea
  • Joint pain
  • Stomach pain
  • Nausea

Rarely, serious ulcers have occurred in individuals taking Mobic.
